Porcelain Veneers
Transform chipped, stained, gapped or uneven front teeth with veneers in Kanata and Stittsville porcelain or composite, matched to your face, with a free smile-design preview before you commit.
Veneers in Kanata are thin, custom-made shells of porcelain bonded to the front surface of the visible teeth. They change the colour, shape, length and alignment of a tooth in a single treatment, without touching the back of the tooth or the ones you cannot see when you smile. If a tooth is chipped, stained beyond what whitening can fix, slightly crooked, worn, or has a gap beside it, a veneer covers all of that with a new front surface designed to look like a naturally perfect version of your own tooth.
Because the change is on the front surface only, porcelain veneers are one of the most conservative ways to transform a smile’s appearance. They are also one of the most versatile: a single veneer can repair one chipped front tooth, or a set of six to ten can redesign a whole smile. Where veneers are part of a wider plan, they are usually the centrepiece of a smile makeover.
People come to us for veneers in Kanata and Stittsville to correct a specific list of things, often several at once:
Discolouration that whitening cannot lift deep internal staining, tetracycline marks, or a single darkened tooth after old trauma. Where the staining is on the surface and general, professional teeth whitening may be all you need, and we will tell you so.
Chips, cracks, and worn edges on the front teeth, rebuilt to a natural shape.
Gaps and small spaces closed without orthodontics, where the gap is minor.
Mild crowding or slightly crooked teeth masked for a straighter look. Where teeth are significantly out of line, straightening them first with Invisalign usually gives a better, more conservative result than covering the misalignment with veneers and we will be honest about which applies to you.
Uneven shape or size, so the teeth look balanced and proportioned to your face.
There are two main kinds of veneer, and the difference genuinely matters to your decision so here is the honest comparison most clinics do not spell out.
Porcelain veneers are custom-made in a laboratory or milled from a ceramic block, then bonded to the tooth. They are stronger, more stain-resistant, and the most natural-looking, because porcelain reflects light much like real enamel. They typically last ten to fifteen years or more. They cost more up front and usually require a small amount of enamel to be removed so they sit flush.
Composite veneers are built up directly on the tooth from tooth-coloured resin in a single visit. They cost less, need little or no enamel removal, and can often be done in one appointment but they stain more easily and last around five to seven years before needing replacement.
Here is the way to think about it: composite is cheaper per veneer, but porcelain is frequently cheaper per year over the life of the treatment, because it lasts two to three times as long and does not discolour. For a one-tooth repair on a budget, composite can be the sensible choice. For a full smile you want to keep looking its best for well over a decade, porcelain is usually worth the difference. We fit both and will recommend the right one for your case rather than the more expensive one by default.
We start by understanding what you want to change, then take a digital scan and show you a preview of the proposed result. This is where we agree the shape, shade and number of veneers, and confirm whether veneers are genuinely the best route for you. A good family dentist in Kanata will always check the health of the teeth and gums underneath before designing anything cosmetic on top.
For porcelain veneers, a very small amount of enamel is usually removed from the front of the tooth so the veneer sits flush and natural typically less than a millimetre. In some minimal-prep or no-prep cases, little or no enamel needs to come off at all. We take a final scan and, if needed, fit temporary veneers while the permanent ones are made.
At the fitting visit, each veneer is checked for fit and colour, then permanently bonded to the tooth and cured. We adjust the bite, polish the edges, and refine the result so the veneers feel like your own teeth. Composite veneers are built up and shaped directly in this one appointment.
In the Kanata and Stittsville area, porcelain veneers cost generally runs between roughly $900 and $2,500 per tooth, consistent with the wider Ontario range and depending on the case and the material. Composite veneers are less often a few hundred dollars per tooth but, as above, they do not last as long. A single veneer to repair one tooth is a modest treatment; a full set of six to ten for a complete smile is a significant investment, which is why we quote per tooth and in writing so you can see exactly what your plan involves.
Veneers are a cosmetic treatment, so they are generally not covered by dental insurance. Payment plans are available and let you spread the cost, and we are always straight with you about whether a less expensive option whitening, bonding, or straightening would get you the result you want for less. If you are weighing veneers as part of a bigger change, the smile makeover page explains how they combine with other treatments and how the overall cost is staged.
This is a common and sensible question. The simple rule: a veneer covers the front of a tooth for appearance, while a crown covers the whole tooth for strength.
If a tooth is basically healthy but you do not like how it looks, a veneer is the conservative choice it changes the appearance while keeping most of the natural tooth. If a tooth is heavily broken, extensively filled, or weakened after root canal treatment, it needs the full coverage and protection of a same-day crowns crown instead, because a veneer would not hold and the tooth needs strengthening, not just resurfacing. Sometimes a smile plan uses both: veneers on the healthy front teeth and a crown on the one that is damaged, all matched to the same shade. We will tell you honestly which each of your teeth actually needs.
Veneers are looked after exactly like natural teeth: brush twice a day, floss daily, and keep up regular checkups. Porcelain does not stain the way natural enamel does, but the edges and the natural teeth around the veneers still can, so ordinary care keeps everything matching.
Avoid using your front teeth as tools opening packaging, biting nails, chewing ice because while porcelain is strong, it can chip under that kind of point pressure. If you grind your teeth at night, a custom night guard protects the veneers, and we will recommend one where it is warranted. Looked after well, and reviewed at your regular visits with your family dentist in Kanata, a set of porcelain veneers will keep your smile looking its best for well over a decade.

The kindest and best dental clinic I’ve experienced in Ottawa. Booking appointments is very easy, and the entire staff is consistently friendly and caring. I always see the same team members, which speaks to their high staff retention and positive work environment. We’re so glad that our family found this cliniv, especially one that doesn’t try to over treat or take advantage of insurance benefits. Highly recommended.Posted on Google![]()

You do not need to be an existing patient to start, and your first step is a consultation with a smile-design preview you can book a consultation whenever you are ready to see what is possible.
Porcelain veneers in the Kanata and Stittsville area generally run roughly $900 to $2,500 per tooth, depending on the case and material. Composite veneers cost less often a few hundred dollars per tooth but do not last as long. We quote per tooth in writing at your consultation. Veneers are cosmetic, so they are generally not covered by insurance, but payment plans are available.
Porcelain lasts longer (ten to fifteen years or more), resists staining, and looks the most natural, but costs more up front. Composite is cheaper and can be done in one visit, but stains more easily and lasts around five to seven years. Porcelain is often cheaper per year over the life of the treatment; composite can suit a single-tooth repair on a budget. We fit both and recommend the right one for your case.
No. For porcelain veneers a very small amount of enamel usually less than a millimetre is removed so the veneer sits flush, and some minimal-prep cases need almost none. The tooth underneath stays healthy and is protected by the veneer. We only recommend veneers where they are genuinely the right treatment.
Porcelain veneers typically last ten to fifteen years or more with good care; composite veneers around five to seven years. Brushing and flossing normally, avoiding using your teeth as tools, and wearing a night guard if you grind all extend their life considerably.
Yes. We are about eight minutes from Stittsville Main Street at 600 Terry Fox Drive, with free parking, and you do not need to be an existing patient. From Stittsville, take Hazeldean Road east onto Katimavik Road, then left onto Terry Fox Drive.
If your teeth are a healthy shape and the main issue is general surface staining, professional whitening is often enough and far less expensive. Veneers make sense for staining whitening cannot lift, or for chips, gaps, worn edges and shape changes. We will tell you honestly which suits you rather than defaulting to veneers.
Preparation is done under local anaesthetic where needed, so the appointments are comfortable. There may be mild sensitivity for a few days afterwards, especially to hot and cold, which settles. Composite veneers usually involve little or no enamel removal and minimal discomfort.
A veneer covers the front of a tooth to change its appearance; a crown covers the whole tooth to restore strength. Healthy teeth you simply do not like the look of suit veneers; heavily damaged or root-treated teeth need the full protection of a crown. A smile plan sometimes uses both, matched to the same shade.
